In continuation of its service activities to the flood-affected people inhabiting the villages on the bank of Tungabhadra river,  Ramakrishna Math, Hyderabad distributed 160 hand-looms on the 10^th and 11^th of this month to the weavers of the Rajoli village in Mahaboobnagar District of Andhra Pradesh.  A programme was organized in connection with this at Shantinagar a nearby village on 10^th morning. Smt. K. Damayanti district collector, Sri G. Sudheer Babu Superintendent of police, Sri C. Abraham M.L.A, and Sri Ashok Kumar R.D.O participated in the meeting. All the district officials and the M.L.A praised the Mission for its services to the distressed people of the region.  From Math Swami Anupamananda, Swami Gaurangananda and Swami Shitikanthananda participated in the meeting and oversaw the distribution work.

The weavers are of famous Gadwal-silk fame. They are the only weaver-community in the state who still survives on this traditional vocation. Many other weaver-communities, finding the traditional occupation economically unviable, have switched over to other vocations with the advent of power looms and other high-tech gadgets in cloth industry.  The weavers have expressed their happiness and gratitude to the Mission for the help received.

 In fact the Math intends to distribute 300 looms. The remaining 140 looms are stored in a godown in Shantinagar village.   These looms will be distributed in 2 or 3 weeks time when other weavers make their sheds ready to set up the loom. All those who have been given looms on 10^th and 11^th have their temporary sheds erected. They can set up the loom in this shed and work on it to eke their livelihood. Math wants to ensure that none of the beneficiaries will sell away the loom to any Master Weaver or some third party. Hence weavers who would like to have the loom are insisted to make their shed ready in two or three week's time.
