Chapter -17   Slokas —26
'Sat' is used to denote existence and goodness; so also, O Partha,
the word 'Sat' is used for any auspicious act.

Concern for others is a divine trait. Fellow feeling is a fine sentiment . "They alone live who live for others; the others are more dead than alive". When we eat, let us think of others and try to feed at least some. When we put on new clothes, let us remember the less placed and try to give them at least the old clothes. Let us be always of use not only to ourselves but to others as well.

There were two brothers. They had their ancestral property shared equally between themselves. One was married and had a family; the other remained single. The married man of family thought of his brother, "Poor man who will give him food when he is old and unwell?. Who will look after him?. Therefore, let me give him some wealth of mine." Every day thus thinking the man was taking some money and a bag of rice and keeping it in the house of his younger brother in the midnight. The unmarried brother was simultaneously thinking of his married brother, "After all I am only one. My brother has many mouths to feed. Who will give him support, if not I? Let me therefore give some money of mine without his knowledge. If I give him openly, he may not accept because of his self-respect", so thinking he was everyday taking a bag of rice and money to be dropped in the brother's house.

One day in the mid-night, the two brothers met on the road while carrying the rice bags and money to the other's homes. They have been helping each other. The place they have met is sanctified by the construction of a temple.

Let us help each other. The place of help and service is verily the temple of God.

"If in this hell of a world, one can bring a little joy and peace even for a day into the heart of a single person, that much alone is true; this I have learnt after suffering all my life; all else is mere moonshine."--- Swami Vivekananada
