Of all the yogas, prapathi or saranagati is the highest. In fact the culmination of every yoga is self-surrender. Self-surrender is not a weakness. It is indeed strength. All the rivers merge with the ocean; all the yogas end in self-surrender. And it is unfailing.
In the Mahabharata, we find Draupadi symbolic of self-surrender. She surrenders her all at the feet of Sri Krishna. And she is always protected. Not only in the court hall of Hastinapura when her honour was at stake, but in the woods as well, when she was in a tight corner to feed Durvasa and his ten thousand disciples, she appealed to the Lord, in total self-surrender — Lo and behold, she is protected. She is ever unscathed. She is ever resplendent with the spiritual success and glory.
May we all by the Grace of God grow strong enough to surrender ourselves at the feet of the Lord Almighty.
" The Lord says in the Gita: 'O Arjuna, take refuge in Me. I shall deliver you from all sins.' Take shelter at His feet. He will give you right understanding. He will take entire responsibility for you. Then you will get rid of the typhoid. Can one ever know God with such a mind as this? Can one pour four seers of milk into a one-seer pot? Can we ever know God unless He lets us know Him? Therefore I say, take shelter in God. Let Him do whatever He likes. He is self-willed. What power is there in a man?"--- Sri Ramakrishna
"Bring light to the poor; and bring more light to the rich, for they require it more than the poor. Bring light to the ignorant, and more light to the educated, for the vanities of the education of our time are tremendous! Thus bring light to all and leave the rest unto the Lord, for in the words of the same Lord, "To work you have the right and not to the fruits thereof". "Let not your work produce results for you, and at the same time may you never be without work. "May He who taught such grand ideas to our forefathers ages ago help us to get strength to carry into practice His commands!"--- Swami Vivekananda
