Chapter -18   Sloka —26
An agent who is free from attachment, non-egoistic, endued with fortitude and enthusiasm, and unaffected by success or failure, is called Sattvika

Self-confidence and self-reliance, self-dedication and self-sacrifice are noble traits. We observe them and practise them to the extent we are human. To be human is to be kind. Kindness begins at home as charity starts at home..

Bheeshma in the Mahabharata is known for his filial love. He is fond of his father. He is devoted to his parents. He is prepared to do anything for the sake of his father. He is determined to dedicate his all for the delight of his father. So he remained a celibate.

Shivaji Chakravarti is known for his compassion. To save the life of a dove, he is determined to do away with his body.

Abraham Lincoln is a humanist. He is determined to do away with racial discrimination. He is kind, not only to the fellow human beings but to the animals as well. Once when he found a pig struggling in ditch water, he went to its rescue and saved it. He never minded the filth and dirt splashed all over his body while saving the animal.

Mahatma Gandhi has dedicated his all for getting independence to India. He sacrificed his all for the Motherland.

And Swami Vivekananda says: "Him I call a Mahatma whose heart bleeds for the poor."

And the Upanishad proclaims: "Tyagenaike amritatva maanasu." Only by self-sacrifice and tyaga, one can attain bliss and eternity.

"We are destined by the Lord to do great things in India. "--- Swami Vivekananada
