Chapter -18   Slokas —37
The happiness which is like poison at first, but like nectar at the end, is declared to be Sattvika, born of the serenity of the understanding that concerns itself with the Self.

The aircraft to heavenly regions takes off from the peaks of spiritual sadhana. Unless one is rich, one cannot travel by air. Similarly, unless one is pure and devoted one cannot fly to the heavenly abode. The rich people may board the aircraft in an airport which is on the ground. But the devotees have to climb up to a mountain top of spiritual sadhana to board the aeroplane flying to the divine heights of ecstasy.

The wealth of devotion is hard to acquire. Devotion invariably involves detachment from the worldly shackles which are of both gold and iron, soft thread of silk and prickly chain of barbed wire. The path to the airport on the mountain top may not be smooth always. But once we reach the top, the aircraft to the heavenly abode takes us to land us forever in the kingdom of shadowless bliss. We need not suffer at all in future, thereafter.

Tukaram was a great devotee. He started his journey to go to the mountain top. But on the way there are tests and tribulations, temptations and threats. He was offered wealth to enjoy the worldly pleasures. He was enticed by women to detain him on the way for indulgence in the senses of sweetness. Nothing could prevent him. Nothing could deter him. None could frighten him. The other pilgrims, however, could not reach the top because of the allurements and attachments, doubts and fears about the journey here and hereafter to the unknown regions.

Tukaram with faith and devotion, with steadfast confidence in God and tenacity of purpose to reach the goal, climbed up to the top of sadhana. And there at the peak, there was an aeroplane to receive him and take him to infinite happiness in the regions of God.

Blessed are the devotees who can stick to the path of devotion and reach its peaks for they are sure to be taken and placed for ever in the God's heart to enjoy the thrill of God's love and embrace.
