Chapter -2   Slokas — 3
Yield not to unmanliness, O Partha, it is not worthy of you; shaking off this mean faintheartedness, arise, O scorcher of foes.

"Arise, awake and stop not till the goal is reached" is the lion's roar of the patriotic monk, Swami Vivekananda. When he gave the rousing call, he was only repeating the clarion call of Sri Krishna to Arjuna on the battlefield.

All ills and evils, sorrow and suffering, fear and frustration are due to weakness, both physical and psychological. So, Sri Krishna exhorted Arjuna to be manly. Manliness is the panacea to all evils and ills.

Swami Ramadas in Maharashtra emboldened Shivaji to strive for righteous rule and kingdom.

Swami Vivekananda initiated the freedom movement through intellectuals, artists, social reformers and philosophers for the glory and independence of our country. Tagore and Tilak, Bose and Aurobindo and finally Gandhi fought fearlessly in accordance with the injunctions of the Gita. And today we are free to be strong and bold in the independent India. "Strength is life, weakness is death."

"Be not afraid of anything. You will do marvellous work. The moment you fear, you are nobody. It is fear that is the great cause of misery in the world. It is fear that is the greatest of all superstitions. It is fear that is the cause of our woes, and it is fearlessness that brings heaven even in a moment. Therefore, 'Arise, awake, and stop not till the goal is reached." --Swami Vivekananda
