Chapter -4   Slokas — 28
There are others who sacrifice through gifts, others (again) who sacrifice through penance, and still others who sacrifice through Yoga; while there are others, aspirants of austere vows, who sacrifice through knowledge from scriptural studies.

We are never idle. We cannot be idle. We cannot afford to be idle. Physical idleness is laziness, emotional idleness is inertia and intellectual idleness is indolence. Any idleness is disastrous not only to the progress but to the existence itself.

Therefore we are all engaged in the acquisition of wealth. When we are active physically, we acquire the wealth of health. When our emotions are active on the righteous lines, we acquire the wealth of art, kindness and nobility. When we are intellectually alert, we become rich in knowledge. When we are spiritually wakeful, we shine in self-realisation.

And the wealth thus acquired should not be encashed for comfort or bodily pleasures or luxury. If we do so, it is materialism. But the same wealth, if utilised for the welfare of all, it is yajna leading to our liberation as well.

Jnana yajna it is, when we use our intellectual wealth for enlightening ourselves and others. No wealth is to be used for selfish purposes. Every type of wealth is to be kept at the disposal of all.

Yoga, Tapas and Yajna are indeed wealth. They grow in proportion to their utility in the service of others. Let our yogic practises, tapas and sacrifice be for the welfare of others. Let us perform or practise them as an offering to God, who is hidden in all beings.

"Where are the men who are ready to sacrifice everything, so that this message shall reach every corner of the world? Such heroic souls are wanted to help the spread of truth. Such heroic workers are wanted to go abroad and help to disseminate the great truths of the Vedanta. The world wants it; without it the world will be destroyed. Up, India, and conquer the world by your spirituality. "--- Swami Vivekananda
