Chapter -4   Slokas — 39
The man of faith, zeal, and self-control attains knowledge: having attained knowledge, he immediately attains supreme Peace.

Faith moves mountains. The one of faith has no fear, knows no failure. Faith in God is the old religion; faith in oneself is the new religion. In truth they are both one and the same. The former prevents us from becoming egoistic and arrogant. The latter may, on account of egoism, make us proud. Modesty coupled with loving faith is devotion to God.

A certain boy in a school was asked to bring milk as his contribution to a function in the institution. As he was poor, he could not buy milk. He, on his mother's advice, prayed to Lord Gopala who promised to make his pot ever full with milk. The teacher was astounded to see the akshaya pair a or the pot with infinite milk. He wanted to see the giver. Lo and behold, the God is visible only to the innocent boy of faith and not to the doubting intellect of the master. Blessed are the pure at heart, they will have the heaven. The legend is to highlight the efficacy of faith, prayer with faith.

Similarly is another legend in which a woman devotee is able to walk on water chanting Ramnam as per the direction of her master. The devotee is able to succeed where the master has failed. The faith of the master is neither full nor pure; whereas the innocent woman's faith is matchless and steadfast.

There are no miracles. They are but the fruits of faith. Faith is strength. Faith is wealth. Faith is divine. Faith makes miracles. Intellect is likely to doubt and disbelieve. Innocence is sure to believe and shine in purity.

Faith has no fear. Love is the flower of faith. Faith is the fruit of love, pure and unselfish.

It is possible that the masters may have less faith in what they preach and the disciples have more faith in what they listen to from the masters.

While the innocent lady of faith was able to walk across the river, the sceptical master was holding his dhoti up with doubt about what he had preached.
