Chapter -7   Sloka — 14
This divine illusion of Mine, constituted of the Gunas, is indeed hard to surmount; those who take refuge in Me alone, get over this illusion.

Difficult it is to overcome attachments and cultivate dispassion. We are born not to remain slaves to nature but to conquer it. Nature tries to imprison us and enmesh us in the three gunas. And that is Maya or Moha. Even that is God-made. It is only by the grace of God that one can conquer nature, shatter Maya or dispel Moha.

Arjuna at the sight of the Kuru forces suddenly was overcome by grief, born of attachment. And Sri Krishna taught the sacred Gita to dispel his delusion.

Narada Maharshi in spite of his ceaseless adoration of the Almighty, once forgot God for a while and was lost in delusion. He looked at a woman; fell in love with her, married her; had children; worked hard for the maintenance of the family. He, therefore had to suffer the strain and stress of domestic drudgery. And it was by the grace of God once again he was restored to normalcy at the abode of the Lord.

"This maya, that is to say, the ego, is like a cloud. The sun cannot be seen on account of a thin patch of cloud; when that disappears one sees the sun. If by the grace of the guru one's ego vanishes, then one sees God."

"Rama, who is God Himself, was only two and a half cubits ahead Lakshmana. But Lakshmana couldn't see Him because Sita stood between them. Lakshmana may be compared to thejiva, and Sita to maya. Man cannot see God on account of the barrier of maya. Just look: I am creating a barrier in front of my face with this towel. Now you can 'tsee me, even though lam so near. Likewise, God is the nearest of all, but we cannot see Him on account of this covering of maya. The jiva is nothing but the embodiment of Satchidananda. But since maya, or ego has created various upadhis, he has forgotten his real self." --- Sri Ramakrishna
