We become what we constantly think of. If we think of weakness, we become weak; if we are frequently frightened, we become cowards. If we think of courage incessantly, we become courageous.
If we can cultivate the habit of thinking positively, we become positive people with dynamism and failure will be unknown to us. So, we are to think of God always, so that we become peaceful and divine. Thoughts are powerful and concentrated in the early hours of me day and on the bed of death.
Whatever shape of thought is dominant at the time of dying, that shape only we take in the ensuing janma. The place we long for while dying will be our dwelling place after death in the next Janma.
Ajameela, though a sinner, was fortunate enough, on account of his previous samskaras, to remember God while dying. He called his son Narayana and therefore went to the abode of Narayana after death. Bharata, a rishi thought of a deer while dying, on account of his attachment to it. And so, he had to be born as a deer in the next birth.
Let us remember God always so that we can reign supreme in the kingdom of peace like the lady who is engaged in diverse activities such as pounding, talking and transacting etc. all the while keeping her attention on the husking rod lest it might crush her hand. Sri Krishna, therefore asks Arjuna to fight, fight and fight with the mind firmly fixed on God.
"According to the Gita, one becomes afterwards what one thinks of at the time of death. King Bharata thought of his deer and became a deer in his next life. Therefore one must practise sadhana in order to realize God. If a man thinks of God day and night, he will have the same thought in the hour of death." --- Sri Ramakrishna
