Chapter -9   Slokas — 22
Those persons, who think of nothing else and worship Me through meditation - the accession to and the maintenance of the welfare of such ever devout person I look after.

No prayer remains unanswered. Prayer is power. Ceaseless prayer is the perennial source of power. The grandest and the supreme assurance of God is that He would look after the welfare of all His devotees, who would take refuge at His feet. He never leaves his dependents in distress. Never does he allow his worshippers to die in hunger.

Swami Vivekananda as a wandering monk (Parivrajaka) was once travelling by a train. The co-passenger was making fun of him all the while enjoying delicious food. Swamiji was no doubt hungry. But he had his mind fixed on God. At a particular station, they alighted to board another train. Swamiji chose to wait at a distant place under a tree's shade until the next train arrived. He continued to be hungry; he did not have money to buy food. Meanwhile in the town, Sri Rama appeared in the dream of a sweetmeat merchant who was enjoying his afternoon nap after a heavy lunch. The God woke him up and asked him to carry food to the Swamiji. Brushing it aside as but a dream, he slept once again. But God woke him up again and sent him with food. The Swamiji was surprised.

He told the merchant to be sure whether it was really to him that Sri Rama had sent the food. The merchant described the identity marks as told by Sri Rama in the dream. Swamiji's grateful devotion to God knew no bounds.

Kuchela was a boyhood friend of Sri Krishna in the gurukula. Unable to put up with the pangs of poverty, Kuchela proceeded to Sri Krishna for help. Lord Krishna received him with affection and showered on him immense wealth without ever allowing the friend to beg for it. And that is God's loving magnanimity. It is enough if we have faith in Him. It is enough if we pray. He knows what we need and therefore, He fulfils our requirements.
