Chapter -9   Slokas — 26
He who with devotion offers Me a leaf, a flower, a fruit or water,
that devout offering of the pure-minded one I accept.

It is not what we offer that is important. It is how we offer that is more important. Pompous offering is not necessary. God is happy to receive anything offered with devotion.

A little water, a small flower or a fruit or even a leaf will suffice for an offering if we have real devotion.

Kannappan collected water in his mouth and poured it on Sivalinga which the Lord received and enjoyed. It is not the water that he enjoyed, it is Kannappan's devotion that he has enjoyed .

Sabari, an ardent devotee, offered fruit to Sri Rama after tasting it herself. Even that was enjoyed by Sri Rama on account of her sincere devotion.

Rukmini offered a leaf of the Basil plant and Sri Krishna was immensely pleased with it.

Andal offered every day a garland of flowers which the Lord enjoyed immensely.

Gifts are precious and acceptable to God in proportion to the purity and love of the offering devotees.

"Bhakti-Yoga is the science of higher love. It shows us how to direct it; it shows us how to control it, how to manage it, how to use it, how to give it a new aim, as it were, and from it obtain the highest and most glorious results, that is, how to make it lead us to spiritual blessedness. Bhakti-Yoga does not say, "Give up "; it only says, "Love; love the highest!" - and everything low naturally falls off from him, the object of whose love is the Highest."--- Swami Vivekananda
