Chapter -9   Slokas — 31
He soon becomes righteous-minded and attains eternal peace: O Son of Kunti, proclaim (to the world) that My devotee never perishes.

Divinity is hidden in us. We are all good and kind by birth. Virtues are latent in everyone of us. If we are not able to be kind and righteous, it is because of inappropriate or adverse environment. Unrighteousness or adharma is but a passing phase. Atheism is but an accident, lasting for a short while. Nobody can afford to be atheistic or inhuman for long.

Angulimala and Ratnakar, King Bali and Girish are apparently bad for a while. The robber Angulimala was cruel cutting the thumbs of the people he had robbed. The moment he saw and came in contact with Gauthama the Buddha, there was an awakening in him. He turned good and kind.

Ratnakar, a dacoit was transformed into Rishi Valmiki by Devarishi Narada. The innate devotion blossomed into a sage. Bali who was haughty dethroning Devendra and others was humbled by the dwarf Vamana on account of the latent spark of devotion present in him.

Girish, "a wholesale sinner" and a man of vices has but one virtue hidden in him. And that is truthfulness. Sri Ramakrishna spotted it out and brought it out to the surface. The powerful spark of fire in him destroyed all his vices and he became a paragon of virtues.

However bad we may be, the moment we turn inward, we find within us the light of knowledge, the oasis of peace, gold mine of goodness, ocean of kindness, the fountain of devotion and the very spirit of Atman, the abode of God to direct us well, to redeem us and to take us to the heights of excellence in every walk of life, here and hereafter.

"If a man has sincere love for God, then all come under his control - the king, wicked persons, and his wife."--- Sri Ramakrishna
