A Report on 173rd Birthday Celebrations of Bhagavan Sri Ramakrishna...

The 173^rd  birthday of BHAGAVAN SRI RAMAKRISHNA was celebrated with joy and fervor on 9^th March 2008. 

The programme began with meditation and Mangalarati at 5.30 a.m. it was followed Suprabhat and vedic chanting.

The  “Mandira Pradakshina” took place from 6.45 to 7.15 a.m.  A decorated chariot with Sri Ramakrishna’s portrait was taken around the temple with singing of bhajans and dancing.  The monks and the devotees participated joyously took part in it.

There was special Puja and Homa from 8.00 to 11.00 a.m. accompanies singing of Bhajans and chanting of Mantras.

There was talk in Telugu and English on the life and message of Bhagavan Sri Ramakrishna by Swami Jnanadanandaji and Swami Srikantanandaji.  It was followed Arati and Prasad distribution.

There was “Ashtavadhanam” programme on the life and teachings of Bhagavan Sri Ramakrishna by Mahasahasravadhani Sagaragosha Kavi Dr. Garikipati Narasimha Rao, Kakinada. From 2.00 to 6.00 p.m.

After Sandhyarati at 6.45 there was “Leela Geeti”  musical dance programme by Sri Kalakrishna and Party, the famous “Shiva Tandava troupe from 7.00 to 8.00 p.m.

“Kali Smaranam” an ACD containing the Telugu rendering of the songs which Sri Ramakrishna used to sing was released on the occasion.  The songs are sung by Swami Jnanadanandaji.  Thousands of devotees thronged to the Math to attend the day-long programme which was telecast by Bhakti TV Channel.
